Boys 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grades
HEAD COACH: Doug Quinn
Email:
PRACTICES WILL BE HELD AT WALNUT ST. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
This program is primarily developmental. Players wear full lacrosse gear and should expect some contact and will learn to play the game of lacrosse. Mandatory gear includes helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, stick, mouthpiece, and ATHLETIC SUPPORTER. This team typically will have practices two nites during the week and saturdays.
Players:
Be on the field, fully dressed by practice start time.
Besides lacrosse gear each child should bring the 3 essentials:
1) Mouthpiece
2) Cup
3) Water
** REMEMBER: It's a Spring sport, so lots of rain. Guess what? Rain does not stop Lacrosse players. We play/practice in the rain, but will cancel for lightning due to safety issues. Nylon jackets/windbreakers etc. are the best top layer for rainy conditions. Remember to wear layers, so adjusments can be made based on the temperature. Cleats (with laces tied) are a must.
Parents are permitted, and even encouraged, to participate. We have found that when a parent gets involved, your child has a much higher level of confidence and sense of well being on the field. Overall, lacrosse is a much more enjoyable experience when it is a family activity. You can get involved either as an assistant coach, team mom/dad, or even just stay and network with the coaches and the other families during practice.
* The Parent-Coach Program: Parents (yes, mom too!) and even older siblings can come be an assistant coach. Don't be intimidated because you know nothing about lacrosse - we will teach you what you need to know. The most important thing is that you are spending time on the field with your child. Don't worry about a fixed commitment - if your schedule allows you to come only once a week, or once a month for that matter, you are still welcome to participate. The parents who have helped out in the past have proven to be a tremendous benefit to not only their own children, but to the other players and coaches as well.

** High School Assistants: We will have several players from each HS in town (TR East, TR North, TR South, and Monsignor Donovan) volunteering to help the Clinic children at various practices. Please be conscious of the tremendous sacrifice these players are making for your children; By the time they arrive at our field they have already completed a full school day and 3 grueling hours of HS Lacrosse practice. They are not required to help and they recieve no money for doing so. They volunteer out of love for the game and a desire to give something back to the Lacrosse Community. Many of these players are opponents from rival teams, yet you would never know it to see them working side by side to teach the game to a new generation of players. TRLC wishes all these players the best of luck in the 2011 season and we thank them for helping instill in our younger players the spirit of respect that makes "The Creator's Game" so special.
